Business Roundtable Hosts Both State Legislators

April 3rd, the Chamber’s Business Roundtable hosted both State Senator Fran Pavley and State Assemblywoman Julia Brownley at its quarterly meeting and luncheon. Held at Fairmont Miramar’s beautifully renovated FIG Restaurant, the gathering of local business leaders enjoyed delicious seasonal fare in a solarium overlooking the hotel’s pool and garden. Flooded with sunlight and accompanied by the warm oceanfront breeze, roundtable members from a wide range of industries discussed such important issues as environmental regulations, labor relations, and educational funding.

Senator Pavley, who recently held a state senate hearing on water conservation at Santa Monica College, shared her concerns regarding regional water supply management and addressed the programs and steps needed to reduce demand. Assemblywoman Brownley, who chairs the Assembly Education Committee, offered a comprehensive understanding of our schools’ financial challenges and the importance of localized control. Both legislators were pleased to hear of the Chamber’s extensive outreach programs, diligent governmental committees, and strong issue-oriented leadership.
